Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Andre Onana following his outburst at Harry Maguire during Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat by Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.

United’s new £47million goalkeeper made his second appearance for the club, coming on for Tom Heaton just after half-time, with Erik ten Hag’s side a goal down following Donyell Malen’s quickfire brace.

At around 47 minutes into the match, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper became furious with his defender, who has been linked with a move away from the club, after giving away possession and allowing Dortmund’s attackers in on goal.

Onana was on hand to block the first attempt from Sebastien Haller, parrying the ball down to down to Karim Adeyemi who, fortunately for United, struck his shot wide.

After the ball went dead, the Cameroonian shot-stopper immediately marched over to Maguire on the other side of the penalty area and berated the former Manchester United captain.

United’s new £47million goalkeeper was seen rushing over to Maguire and shouted at him for giving the ball away

While it is unclear what the goalkeeper said to the defender, it was an angry outburst, with former Aston Villa striker, Agbonlahor claiming that the 27-year-old’s reaction was unwarranted.

‘First of all Harry Maguire did nothing wrong,’ Agbonlahor said to talkSPORT.

‘He gave the ball to a midfielder, who gave it away, and I feel like he is an easy target.

‘I don’t like that from Onana, I fell like he is an easy target.

‘Are you doing that to [Lisandro] Martinez? I don’t think you’re, or even [Marcus] Rashord like that?’

It’s been a tough few weeks for Maguire, who was relieved by Ten Hag of his captaincy duties, with the Dutch manager opting to give the arm band to Bruno Fernandes.

The club also recently set a valuation on their centre-back but rejected a £20million offer for him from West Ham this week.

The 30-year-old has been criticised for his performances in the past year, and has fallen down the pecking order at the club, with Ten Hag opting to play Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane ahead of him.

The Dutch manager has rebuked criticism of the centre-back, but Agbonlahor believes he is an ‘easy target’ and claimed Onana’s criticisms were unwarranted.

‘I don’t like that from Onana, Liverpool Drakt I felt like he is an easy target.

‘Are you doing that to [Lisandro] Martinez? I don’t think you are, or even [Marcus] Rashord?

‘I would understand if it was a big mistake, and cost a goal, or it was Harry Maguire’s fault, fair enough, but I want to see that same energy from every player.

‘I understand he [Onana] is trying to create high standards, but when you watch games with him, he has given the ball away a lot and made mistakes.’

After the match, the goalkeeper admitted that there was no bad blood between himself and the defender, with Onana claiming that he demands high standards from himself and his team-mates.

‘I demand a lot from them because they are great players,’ he said to MUTV.

‘With these defenders, Martinez and Harry [Maguire], they are great players, doing great things and are important players for the club.

‘I am very lucky to be a part of this team and playing with them is great.’

‘I try to demaind a lot form him because I know he’s a good player

‘I try to talk to them a lot because I know he’s a good player, he is one of the captains of the the team. That’s big and he is good with the ball, so I would demand [from] him a lot and he’s a good guy.

Maguire (pictured) was recently axed as United’s captain with the club rejecting a £20m offer from West Ham to buy him

‘I have a good relationship with him. I have to be and he has to be ready and I spoke with him because when I’m in the goal, I demand a lot from everyone.’

‘I will start with myself because I think we are in this together and mistakes will come,’ he added.

‘We don’t have to be afraid to make mistakes because this is part of life and we learn from the mistakes.

‘So we have to be very critical with ourselves. And if we want to win prizes, we have to demand a lot. And for me, it’s a big honour to be here and I’m very happy to work with these guys, Harry is a top guy and a fantastic player. We will move on.’
